We’ve taken on the ARBMAX dealership for Scotland alongside our continued partnership with industry leaders Forst, providing more options than ever for tree surgeons and contractors and making us the only place north of the border to buy, hire, or service the range. The new 13-inch D35 is on tour with us through spring and summer, and the bigger 18-inch D45X is available at our Cumbernauld workshop alongside it.
Who Are ARBMAX?
ARBMAX is a Northern Irish wood chipper manufacturer based in Tyrone. They’ve built a focused range of four machines for the professional arb, forestry and land clearance trade: three drum chippers (D35, D45, D45X) and one disc chipper (F30). All four run current Stage V emissions-compliant engines from Deutz or CAT, with Hardox in the cutting chambers and feed wheels for proper wear life on hardwood, contaminated timber and abrasive material.
The D35 is the newest machine in the lineup and the one that put ARBMAX in front of a wider trade audience. Most 13-inch tracked drum chippers either exceed the 3.5-tonne towing limit or sacrifice cutting capacity to stay under it. The D35 manages full professional cutting capacity at 2,700kg gross weight, which means standard plant trailer transport behind a 3.5-tonne capable vehicle instead of the HGV haulage operators usually face on a chipper this size.
The ARBMAX Range
D35 (13-Inch Tracked-Towable Drum Chipper)
The D35 is ARBMAX’s latest release, and is now available for sale, hire and demo at ILH Groundcare.
The engine is a 75hp Deutz Stage 5 diesel. Feed opening is 350mm by 450mm, big enough for most arb-grade brash and timber without trimming every branch. Two Hardox-toothed feed wheels handle forward and reverse, with an auto-infeed that adjusts feed rate to engine load. A three-knife drum runs in a Hardox chamber with a replaceable wear liner and quick-change knives, so blade swaps don’t keep your crew waiting. A biomass screen system produces consistent chip size for biomass markets or landscaping mulch.
Operator controls are an HD colour HMI screen with two chipping modes and dual multifunction controls. The tracked undercarriage is operated by remote, and three safety stop bars sit across the folding hopper.
D45X (18-Inch Tracked Drum Chipper)
The D45X is the larger tracked drum chipper in the range, built for forestry contracts and full-scale land clearance where a 13-inch chipper would be working flat out. Two engine options are available: 228hp DEUTZ Stage V 5.2 (170kW, 950Nm) or 134hp CAT Stage V 3.6 (100kW, 550Nm). Tracked chassis weight is 8,000kg.
The drum is a 4-knife unit with chromium alloy quick-change blades and a single reversible chromium anvil. Infeed aperture is 450mm by 610mm (18 inches), with a hopper opening of 1,425mm by 850mm. The discharge chute rotates 350 degrees with hydraulic control. Standard chute height runs 2.6 to 3.4 metres, with extended options at 4.4m or 5.2m for loading walking-floor trailers and high-sided containers.
Controls are the same 4.3-inch HMI screen used across the range, plus a multifunction radio remote that operates feed, discharge, tracks and engine. Three emergency stops are positioned around the machine.
D45 (18-Inch Road-Towable Drum Chipper)
The D45 is the same 18-inch drum capacity as the D45X but on a road-towable chassis instead of tracks. It suits operators whose sites have proper road access and who don’t need a tracked machine to reach them. The engine is a CAT C3.6 134hp Stage 5. The 4-pocket drum produces approximately 70 cubic metres per hour, and the chamber is fully lined with Hardox 450 for hardwood, contaminated timber and demolition material.
The chassis runs twin 1,900kg leaf-sprung suspension units, a galvanised frame, and three hydraulic stabilising legs that drop down for chipping. The HMI controller has an ECO mode for fuel and noise reduction.
F30 (12-Inch Disc Chipper)
The F30 is the smallest machine in the range and the only disc chipper. It’s aimed at small-to-medium arb crews and forestry contractors who want a more compact unit and a disc-style chip rather than drum throughput. It comes wheeled (3,100kg) or tracked (3,800kg). Engine options are the CAT C3.6 134hp or the Deutz 2.9 L4 75hp, both Stage V.
The cutting disc is angled at 50 degrees with two knives and three anvils, fed through a 330mm by 310mm aperture. Throughput is approximately 50 cubic metres per hour. The tracked variant adds stabilising rams and a dozer blade.
Book a Demo on the Scotland Tour
The D35 is on tour with us through Scotland this spring and summer. Site demos run on the customer’s own material wherever possible, so you can see how the chipper handles the timber you actually work with. Tree surgeons, forestry contractors, landscapers, council grounds crews and anyone whose current chipper is falling short of the work coming in are welcome to register.
If a site demo isn’t practical, we can run one at our Cumbernauld workshop instead, with the D45X brought out alongside the D35 if you want to see both before deciding.
