What a Sherpa mini loader is
A Sherpa is a mini skid-steer loader.
It turns by varying power to each side, the same principle a tracked digger uses to spin on the spot, giving it a turning circle tight enough to work in confined spaces without extra manoeuvring.
The operator stands on a small platform at the back, with controls directly in front. Getting on and off takes seconds, which adds up on a job with a lot of repeated short moves.
Each side wheel is driven independently, so slowing one side down pivots the machine toward it. That’s how a Sherpa turns inside its own length.
The Sherpa 100 range ILH stocks

2Speed
The 2-Speed is fully battery-powered mini loader with an air cooling system, running two gears.
The slower gear gives more power for working, and the faster gear covers ground between tasks on a bigger site.
Small
The Small is the lightest model in the range, coming in at 570kg. It trades some lift capacity to get there.
It’s narrow 760mm chassis makes it the one to pick when every centimetre of clearance counts, like a narrow side passage or a standard doorway.
Petrol
The Petrol runs a 21hp Honda engine.
It starts reliably and needs no mains power on site, which suits jobs where diesel isn’t required and there’s no power hookup in the near vicinity.
Diesel
The Diesel suits longer working days, since diesel typically costs less to run per hour than petrol on continuous jobs.
The Diesel also carries some of the heaviest loads in the range.
It’s the model to choose if the loader is working most of the day rather than moving between short tasks.
Eco, a fully electric mini loader
The Eco runs on a 4.2hp electric motor, and comes in at just 760mm wide.
It draws no fumes and runs almost silently.
It’s built for indoor work, livestock buildings, and any site where a combustion engine isn’t welcome.
Why choose a Sherpa mini loader
A Sherpa carries no boom at all, telescopic or otherwise. Lift height tops out lower as a result.
That trade-off buys real access. A boom needs room to swing before it lifts anything. Plenty of sites don’t have that room to give.
Without one, a Sherpa works right up against a wall, through a doorway, or down a narrow side passage. It reaches the gap behind a fence panel too, somewhere a boom would need extra swing room just to get close.
The petrol model weighs around 624kg, light enough to sit on a small trailer behind a car rather than needing a van and a ramp.
Being light also spreads less pressure onto soft ground and finished surfaces.
That makes a Sherpa a safer choice on lawns, driveways, and paving that a heavier machine would mark or rut.
Attachments and tools for Sherpa miniloaders
The Sherpa 100 takes buckets, pallet forks, and a handful of other attachments built for the platform. A smaller machine has less hydraulic flow to power tools, so the range stays focused rather than extensive.
For most jobs that’s not a limitation.
A bucket handles material movement and a fork handles pallets, which covers the bulk of what a Sherpa gets used for on site.
Swapping between them is quick, a straightforward pin-and-hook fit rather than a hydraulic quick-hitch system. Fewer moving parts means fewer things to go wrong on a wet site.
A bucket is the default fit for most owners, since soil, aggregate, and general site waste make up most of what gets moved.
Pallet forks come into their own on sites taking regular deliveries.
They lift bagged material or paving slabs straight off a lorry, without needing a separate forklift standing by.
Hire or buy a miniloader

The machine you collect starts first time and handles the way it should. Hiring makes sense for a one-off job, a short contract, or trying a Sherpa before committing to buying one.

A machine bought for one job and left in the yard most weeks rarely pays for itself.
Hiring by the day or week, only when the job calls for it, is often the cheaper route for occasional use.
Where a Sherpa earns its keep
Arborists and groundcare contractors get the most use out of a Sherpa.
Residential garden work needs a machine narrow enough to clear a standard gate without leaving ruts on the lawn behind it.
A wider machine often can’t clear that gap, and the extra weight marks turf a Sherpa rolls straight over. Groundcare crews maintaining parks, cemeteries, and public paths run into the identical problem, since those paths were built for pedestrians, not plant.
Landscapers, builders on tight residential and construction sites, and farmers moving feed through low buildings all use the same machine for the same reason. None of them can get a bigger loader through the gap they’re working with.
Demolition crews favour the electric Eco model specifically, since there’s no exhaust to ventilate and no noise limit to work around indoors.
Plant hire companies favour the fleet too, for customers who need the width just once or twice a year.
