Compact Loaders East Lothian

ILH Groundcare supplies MultiOne and Sherpa compact loaders for sale and hire across East Lothian, working with farms, golf courses, estates and contractors.

We’re an official MultiOne dealer and supply the full Sherpa range from our Cumbernauld workshop. Family-run since 2007, we check every new, used and hired loader before it leaves, with the same team available for parts and servicing afterwards.

Tell us what you’re moving and where the machine needs to work.

We can help you choose a loader for the loads and access on your site, from a busy farm steading to a walled garden with a narrow entrance.

  • Compact loaders for sale in East Lothian

ILH Groundcare sell both MultiOne and Sherpa 100 compact loader ranges new, with used machines available when stock allows, and can help you compare models for the work you do regularly.

    MultiOne loaders

MultiOne’s articulated chassis pivots at the centre, helping reduce scuffing when turning on grass.

For a greenkeeping team or estate crew moving between hardstanding and turf, that steering arrangement is a useful part of choosing the machine.

Models with a telescopic boom provide extra reach for loading trailers and placing materials.

We look at the weight you need to lift and the height you need to reach together, whether that’s a pallet of produce at a steading or materials for an estate repair.

New MultiOne loaders carry a 3-year warranty, and we handle parts and warranty enquiries through our Cumbernauld workshop.

    Sherpa loaders

Sherpa’s stand-on mini loaders suit restricted-access jobs around steadings, stable yards and gardens.

The range includes petrol, diesel and electric machines, with narrow models for doorways and passages that limit the size of loader you can use.

An electric model may suit work inside a shed or stable building where exhaust fumes are a concern.

We check the model and attachment dimensions together, since a loader that fits through the entrance still needs room to turn and work once inside.

Hiring a compact loader in East Lothian

Hire can cover a harvest period, a golf-course renovation or an estate fencing contract without adding a machine to your fleet permanently.

Give us the job details and dates, and we’ll check availability for the loader and attachments together.

Every hire loader leaves Cumbernauld serviced. We explain the controls at handover, with phone support available during the hire.

For a longer booking, we’ll also discuss routine checks and any servicing needed during the job.

If the work is likely to continue beyond one project, ask us to compare hire and purchase against the amount of use you expect.

Attachments for farm, course and yard work

MultiOne offers over 170 attachments across its range, and Sherpa offers over 50.

Choosing the tools alongside the loader lets you cover several jobs with the same machine; we confirm compatibility and hydraulic requirements for the equipment you need.

A farm loader might move produce crates on pallet forks, then change to a bucket for clearing the yard.

On a course renovation, a bucket carries sand or soil to the work area and a sweeper clears the paths afterwards.

For estate fencing, forks carry the materials and an auger drills the post holes.

Mower and flail attachments cover grass and rough vegetation, while a hydraulic concrete mixer can help with yard repairs.

ILH Groundcare assist to match both the machine and the attachments to your workload.

    Delivery across East Lothian

Our Scotland-wide compact loader hire service includes delivery and collection across East Lothian, from Musselburgh and Tranent to Haddington, North Berwick, Dunbar and the farms and estates between them.

Compact loader servicing and parts from Cumbernauld

Our workshop handles servicing and repairs for MultiOne and Sherpa, alongside compact loaders we don’t sell or hire. We also offer advice over the phone for day-to-day maintenance checks.

We stock hydraulic fittings, filters and other common wear parts, with genuine spares dispatched across the UK.

Send us the machine model and details of the part you need so we can check stock or source a replacement.

If your loader needs workshop repairs, we’ll discuss transport and the likely turnaround.

Let us know if a breakdown is holding up harvest, a course renovation or another time-sensitive job so we can talk through the available options.

What East Lothian ground needs from a loader

East Lothian’s coastal sites, inland farmland and Lammermuir foothills can involve very different ground.

Tell us about slopes and soft sections on the working route so we can assess machine suitability before recommending a loader and attachments.

    Arable farms and market gardens

On East Lothian’s arable farms, the space around stores and outbuildings can matter more to loader selection than the size of the fields.

Moving produce crates through a steading involves doorways, turns and loading areas that may leave little room for larger machinery.

For market gardens, access between growing areas and sheds can be tighter still.

We need to know the size and weight of the loads as well as the route, so the loader has enough capacity without being too large for the working space.

Where work takes the loader off hardstanding, protecting productive soil matters too.

Repeated trips over wet ground can cause rutting and compaction, so we discuss the route and ground conditions as well as machine weight and tyre choice.

    Golf courses and links maintenance

Greenkeeping work across East Lothian includes coastal links between Musselburgh and Dunbar as well as inland parkland courses.

Moving bunker sand, topdressing and cut turf means selecting a loader for the surfaces it will cross, with different conditions on sandy links ground and softer inland routes.

Path width, soft ground and turning space near bunkers affect which machine is suitable.

Tyres, load weight and ground conditions all influence turf damage, so articulated steering alone does not make a loader suitable for every part of a course.

Knowing the route and the loads your greenkeeping team needs to carry helps us recommend a loader and tyres for the work.

Estates, walled gardens and equestrian yards

Estate and garden work often means getting through a walled garden gate or between glasshouses never built with modern machinery in mind.

The route may also pass under branches or a low arch, so height can be as restrictive as width.

In an equestrian yard, the loader needs to work around stable doors and muck heaps while carrying bedding, feed or manure. Where that route crosses grass tracks, ground conditions also affect the choice.

Our estate managers page covers the wider range of machinery for estate work.

ILH helps choose the right size for your site

Measure the narrowest gateway, path or doorway and check overhead clearance.

Allow room to turn, too. A bucket or mower can be wider than the loader itself, so the access measurements need to account for both.

Next, consider your heaviest load and where it needs to be placed.

A loader’s capacity changes with the attachment and reach; for powered tools such as a mower or trencher, we also check that the machine provides the required hydraulic flow.

With those and a description of the workload, we can compare suitable MultiOne and Sherpa models to provide the right machine for the job.

FAQs on compact loaders for East Lothian

Is there an ILH depot in East Lothian?

No. We’re based in Cumbernauld, where our sales, hire, servicing and parts teams support customers across East Lothian. We can arrange delivery or discuss collection from the workshop.

How quickly can a hire loader reach East Lothian?

Send us your location and preferred dates and we’ll check the loader, attachments and delivery schedule together before confirming a date, including any timing restrictions around harvest or a course renovation.

Can a compact loader work on a golf course without damaging the turf?

There is no guarantee of damage-free travel. Machine weight, tyres, the load and ground conditions all matter, particularly on wet or sensitive turf. We can discuss suitable equipment with your greenkeeping team.

Is it better to hire or buy for a seasonal job like harvest or a course renovation?

Hire is worth considering when you only need a loader for a defined period. If the machine would also cover regular yard or grounds work, compare the cost of ownership with repeated hires. We can quote both options for your expected use.

Can a loader fit through a walled garden gate or between glasshouses?

Some models can, but we need the actual measurements to confirm a fit. Include the narrowest point, overhead clearance and any turn immediately beyond the entrance, together with the attachment you plan to use.
