The 8 inch by 10 inch feed roller aperture accepts large timber and brash, and the ForstGrip feed roller system draws material through with exceptional grip. Twin hydraulic horizontal rollers lift on an arc toward the timber rather than straight up and down, making the system particularly effective at climbing butt ends. High tension from twin heavy-duty springs and large bearings on either side of the top roller ensure strength and durability through sustained professional use. Variable feed roller speed allows operators to increase throughput when the material and conditions permit.

The open top chipping disc measures 728mm by 30mm and carries twin 10 inch blades. This system generates phenomenal velocity when chipping, throwing material directly to the front of collection vehicles using large gusseted draught fins at the rear. Chip is thrown rather than blown, which means blockages on wet material are simply not a problem. The TR8D 55 is equally effective chipping 8 inch logs as it is processing wet and green fibrous material, making it versatile across tree care, landscaping, and rental applications.

The AutoIntelligence electrical system manages all electrics through a fully waterproof and vibration-proof platform. Illuminated heavy-duty touch pad controls rated to IP69 are located on either side of the hopper, and a traditional feed bar provides an alternative control method. The AutoIntelligence No Stress Device monitors engine load and adjusts the feed rate to prevent stalling, keeping the machine at maximum throughput. Service interval tracking and maintenance prompts are built into the system.

Maintenance has been designed for simplicity. Two catches and two bolts give access to the service area, and just one bolt removes the anvil for turning or replacement. A clear 35 litre fuel tank with a wide neck allows easy refuelling and fuel level monitoring. The tracked chassis measures 1.3m wide and the machine is 2.7m long with the hopper raised, extending to 3.4m with the hopper lowered for operation. At 2.4m tall with the chute fitted and weighing 1625kg, it remains compact enough to transport on a standard plant trailer.

The robust all-steel construction uses heavy gauge fabrications throughout, with all edges flanged and finished to a high standard. Noise output is rated at 122dB. Every new Forst TR8D 55 comes with a 3 year warranty as standard.
