Forst ST8D 55

The Forst ST8D 55 is the diesel-powered 8 inch towable wood chipper built for professional contractors who need serious processing power and the reliability that comes with a diesel engine. Equipped with a 55hp Doosan DPF diesel engine that is Stage V compliant and requires no DEF fluid, this machine delivers a huge amount of torque and power while remaining fuel efficient and meeting the latest emissions requirements.

The 8 inch by 10 inch feed roller aperture accepts large timber and brash, and the ForstGrip feed roller system draws it through with force. Twin hydraulic rollers climb in an arc over the material, tensioned by heavy-duty springs that generate powerful crushing capability. Limbs and forks are broken with ease, and variable feed roller speed allows operators to increase throughput when the material and conditions allow.

At the heart of the chipping system is the large Forst open top flywheel, measuring 728mm by 30mm and carrying twin 10 inch blades. This flywheel generates phenomenal velocity when chipping, throwing material to the front of collection vehicles using large gusseted draught fins at the rear. The open top design means chip is thrown rather than blown, eliminating the blockages on wet material that affect other systems. The AutoIntelligence electrical control system manages all electrics on the machine through a fully waterproof and vibration-proof platform. Illuminated heavy-duty touch pad controls rated to IP69 are located on either side of the hopper for easy access, and feed rollers can also be controlled by the traditional feed bar. The AutoIntelligence No Stress Device monitors engine load in real time and adjusts the feed rate to prevent stalling, keeping the machine running at peak performance. Service interval tracking and maintenance prompts are built into the system.

A clear 35 litre fuel tank with a wide filling neck keeps the machine running through extended operations and makes it easy to check fuel levels.
