The Forst ST6P has earned its reputation as the best-selling 6 inch capacity petrol wheeled wood chipper across the UK and Europe. Built around the same chipping chamber, flywheel and feed roller system as the heavier ST6P HD, this machine delivers the same level of cutting performance in a package that stays below the 750kg weight threshold, allowing it to be towed on a standard car driving licence without the need for B+E certification.

Powering the ST6P is a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 40hp V Twin petrol engine equipped with electronic fuel injection technology. The EFI system delivers fuel on demand rather than running a fixed mixture, making the engine remarkably fuel efficient while maintaining the power needed for aggressive chipping. This engine is paired with the machine capacity to create a rapid-fire processing system that handles high volumes of material without unnecessary fuel consumption. A clear 30 litre fuel tank with a wide filling neck keeps the machine running through extended jobs and makes it easy to monitor fuel levels at a glance.

At the core of the ST6P is the ForstGrip feed roller system, which uses twin hydraulic rollers that climb in an arc over the timber for maximum grip. Tensioned by heavy-duty springs, these rollers generate serious crushing power and will break through limbs and forks without hesitation. Variable feed roller speed lets operators adjust the pace depending on the material being processed, increasing throughput when conditions allow. The feed rollers draw material through a 6 inch by 8 inch aperture into the open top flywheel, which measures 640mm by 25mm and carries twin 8 inch blades. This open flywheel design is particularly effective at clearing wet and green material where other systems tend to block.

The electrical system is managed by AutoIntelligence, a fully waterproof and vibration-proof control system that has been designed and tested in harsh working environments. Feed and reverse are operated through simple touch pad buttons mounted on the side of the hopper. The AutoIntelligence No Stress Device monitors engine load in real time and automatically regulates the feed rate to prevent stalling, keeping the machine running continuously. The system also tracks service intervals and recommends routine maintenance when due.

Keeping the ST6P under 750kg has been achieved through the use of lightweight GRP body panels, a shortened chassis, and the lighter petrol engine, without any compromise to the quality of the chipping chamber, hopper, or running gear. The machine is built on a robust C-section chassis with premium fabrications and all edges folded and finished to a high standard. The anvil can be turned or replaced in a matter of minutes, keeping downtime to a minimum.

Measuring 1.3m wide, 3.3m long with the hopper raised, and 2.2m tall with the chute fitted, the ST6P is compact enough for tight access sites while offering the performance that arboricultural contractors, tree surgeons, councils, and hire companies depend on. At a noise level of 122dB, it operates within expected parameters for equipment of this output. Every new Forst ST6P comes backed by a 3 year warranty as standard, covering the machine and engine for complete peace of mind.

The Forst ST6P is available for both hire and sale, making it suitable for businesses looking to invest in their own fleet or those needing a high-performance chipper for shorter-term projects.
