Forst ST6D 42 & 24

The Forst ST6D brings diesel power to the proven Forst 6 inch chipping platform, offering a choice of two engines to suit different operational requirements. The 42hp Doosan DPF diesel delivers fast, hungry performance for high-throughput work, while the 24hp Kubota naturally aspirated diesel provides a lighter, simpler option for operators who do not require the additional power. Both variants share the same robust all-steel construction, wide hopper design, and the chipping system that has made the Forst 6 series the best-selling range in Europe.

The 42hp Doosan variant weighs 1105kg and measures 1.4m wide, 3.6m long with hopper raised, and 2.3m tall with chute fitted. The 24hp Kubota version comes in lighter at 1005kg with a width of 1.3m and height of 2.2m, sharing the same 3.6m length. Both models feature a clear 30 litre fuel tank with a wide neck for easy refuelling regardless of method.

Material is fed through a 6 inch by 8 inch aperture into the ForstGrip feed roller system. Twin hydraulic rollers climb in an arc over the timber, tensioned by heavy-duty springs that generate enough crushing power to break limbs and forks with ease. A new and improved wide hopper extends right down to the mouth, making it straightforward to feed awkward limbs and forked branches into the rollers. Variable feed roller speed allows operators to adjust throughput to match the material being processed.

The open top flywheel measures 640mm by 25mm and carries twin 8 inch blades. This design generates exceptional velocity when chipping, throwing material directly to the front of a collection vehicle using large gusseted draught fins at the rear. Because the chip is thrown rather than blown, the system handles wet and green material without the blockages that affect closed flywheel designs. The result is a machine that processes everything from wet hedge clippings to solid 6 inch limbs without interruption.

All electrics are managed by the AutoIntelligence system, a fully waterproof and vibration-proof control platform built for demanding environments. Feed and reverse are operated through simple touch pad buttons on the hopper. The AutoIntelligence No Stress Device monitors engine load and automatically adjusts the feed rate to prevent stalling, keeping the machine working at maximum throughput. The system tracks running hours and prompts maintenance when service intervals are due.

The ST6D is built on a robust all-steel construction with no compromise on quality or strength. All fabrications are flanged and finished to a high standard. The anvil can be turned or replaced in a matter of minutes, minimising downtime on site. Noise output is rated at 122dB for both variants.
