Forst PT8

The Forst PT8 is a full-on 8″ x 10″ PTO wood chipper engineered for sheer, uncompromised performance. Designed for arboriculture, grounds maintenance, and agricultural applications, the PT8 delivers the chipping capacity of a large machine in a remarkably compact, tractor-mounted package.

The PT8 features Forst’s proven ForstGrip feed roller system, which uses an arc-climbing top roller to grip timber with exceptional force. Twin high-tension springs combined with the roller’s own weight and gravitational pull ensure even the toughest forks and limbs are drawn smoothly into the chipping chamber. The generous 8″ x 10″ (200mm x 255mm) feed roller aperture accepts large-diameter material, significantly reducing the need for pre-cutting and increasing productivity on site.

At the core of the PT8’s cutting performance is an open-top flywheel measuring 728mm x 30mm, fitted with twin 10-inch blades. This substantial flywheel assembly generates the momentum needed to process hardwood and large limbs efficiently, delivering clean, consistent chip output suitable for composting, biomass, or landscaping applications.

The AutoIntelligence no-stress system comes as standard, providing intelligent feed control through water and vibration-proof touchpads. This ensures reliable operation in all weather conditions while reducing operator fatigue during long working sessions. Like all Forst PTO chippers, the PT8 includes its own self-contained hydraulic system with a dedicated reservoir, eliminating the need to connect to the tractor’s hydraulics and simplifying the setup process.

The PT8 requires a minimum tractor power of 45hp at the PTO shaft (subject to tractor linkage lift capacity) and connects via a standard 540rpm PTO. Weighing 995kg with dimensions of 2,651mm in length (hopper down), 1,375mm in width, and 2,492mm in height with the discharge chute fitted, the PT8 maintains a compact footprint relative to its substantial chipping capacity.

Three-point linkage mounting keeps the machine securely attached to the tractor, and the folding hopper design reduces the transport length to 2,298mm when raised. This makes the PT8 practical for moving between sites without requiring a separate trailer, offering significant operational advantages over towable alternatives.
