Forst PT6

The Forst PT6 is a high-performance 6-inch PTO wood chipper built for contractors, councils, golf courses, estates, and farmers who already have a tractor or power unit. By harnessing the tractor’s PTO shaft rather than relying on its own engine, the PT6 offers an efficient and cost-effective way to access professional-grade chipping performance without the additional weight and maintenance of a self-powered machine.

At the heart of the PT6 is Forst’s proprietary ForstGrip feed roller system. The top feed roller climbs on an arc toward the timber, pulling material toward the flywheel and naturally climbing butt ends to deliver exceptional in-feed grip. Twin high-tension springs on either side of the roller, combined with the roller’s weight and gravitational pull, ensure even the toughest forks and limbs are drawn through smoothly.

The chipping mechanism features an open-top flywheel measuring 640mm x 25mm, equipped with twin 8-inch blades that deliver fast, aggressive cutting performance through the 6″ x 8″ (150mm x 200mm) feed roller aperture. This combination ensures clean, consistent chip output across a wide range of timber types and sizes.

Operating the PT6 is straightforward thanks to the AutoIntelligence no-stress system. Water and vibration-proof touch pads provide reliable feed control in all weather conditions, reducing operator fatigue and simplifying the chipping process. The machine includes its own self-contained hydraulic system with a dedicated reservoir, meaning there is no need to connect to the tractor’s hydraulics. Electrical power is supplied through the tractor’s trailer socket, keeping the setup process quick and simple.

Requiring a minimum tractor power of just 25hp and a standard 540rpm PTO connection, the PT6 is compatible with a wide range of compact and mid-size tractors. Weighing 630kg with dimensions of 2,403mm in length, 1,110mm in width, and 2,307mm in height with the discharge chute fitted, it remains compact enough for easy transport and manoeuvring on site.
