The Forst Cadet 6 is a towable 6 inch wood chipper that brings the proven performance of the Forst chipping chamber to a lighter, more accessible package. Sharing the same cutting system as the well-established ST6P, this machine delivers serious chipping capability while tipping the scales at just 745kg, keeping it below the 750kg threshold that allows towing on a standard car driving licence.

At the heart of the Cadet 6 sits a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 23hp V Twin petrol engine. Compact yet punchy, this powerplant provides reliable performance day after day and comes backed by a 3 year warranty as standard. A clear 30 litre fuel tank with a wide neck makes refuelling straightforward regardless of filling method, and keeps the machine running through longer jobs without interruption.

The chipping system centres on an open top flywheel measuring 640mm by 25mm, fitted with twin 8 inch blades. Material is drawn in through a 6 inch by 8 inch feed roller aperture by the ForstGrip feed roller system, which uses twin hydraulic rollers tensioned with heavy-duty springs. These rollers travel in an arc over the timber for maximum grip and have enough crushing power to break through limbs and forks with ease. Variable feed roller speed allows operators to adjust the pace to match the type of material being processed, making the machine faster when conditions allow.

Controlling the feed is handled by the AutoIntelligence system, featuring fully waterproof and vibration-proof touch pad controls mounted on the side of the hopper. One button feeds, the other reverses. The AutoIntelligence No Stress Device monitors engine load and automatically adjusts the feed rate to prevent stalling, protecting both the engine and the operator from unnecessary downtime.

Maintenance has been kept simple throughout the design. The anvil can be turned or replaced in minutes without specialist tools, keeping the cutting edge sharp and the chip quality high. The machine is built on a robust C-section chassis with premium fabrications, while lightweight GRP body panels help keep the overall weight down without sacrificing durability. All edges are folded and finished to a high standard.

Measuring 1.4m wide, 3.1m long and 2.4m tall with the chute fitted, the Cadet 6 is compact enough to manoeuvre on tight sites and simple to transport between jobs. It processes both dry timber and wet green waste effectively, producing consistent chip output across a range of materials. With a noise level of 118dB, it sits within expected levels for equipment of this class.

The Forst Cadet 6 is available for both hire and sale, making it a practical choice for landscaping businesses looking to add chipping capability, rental companies building their fleet, or arborists at the start of their career who need a dependable machine that performs well above its weight.
