The FSI B23 represents the latest evolution of FSI’s proven pedestrian stump grinder range, combining the best design features from both the B21 and B22 models into one refined machine. Powered by a Kohler CH440 petrol engine delivering 10.5 kW (14 hp), the B23 provides ample power for tackling tree stumps across a wide range of domestic, commercial, and arboricultural applications.
At the heart of the B23 is a 386mm cutting wheel equipped with the FSI 21 tooth system, featuring 8 carbide-tipped teeth driven by a V-belt clutch. This cutting system delivers a maximum depth of 2.1cm per sweep across a generous 118cm arc, capable of cutting 30cm above ground level and 25cm below. The result is thorough stump removal that allows for replanting, landscaping, or resurfacing with minimal disruption.
The B23’s operator-focused design sets it apart from competitors. The vibration-damped, height-adjustable handle features a pivot-point design that significantly reduces strain during extended operation. All controls are integrated directly into the handle for intuitive, one-position operation. An innovative auto sweep-release system automatically unlocks the sweep when the wheel brakes are activated, streamlining the workflow between positioning and grinding.
Self-propelled movement is provided by a hydraulic 2WD ground drive system, enabling the 215kg machine to navigate varied terrain including slopes and soft ground without manual pushing. The compact dimensions of 1870mm length, 680mm width, and 1300mm height mean the B23 can access tight spaces between trees, alongside buildings, and through standard garden gates with ease.
Maintenance requirements are remarkably low. The cutter wheel bearing is a closed, pre-greased unit rated for over 1,000 hours of normal operation from the factory, eliminating the need for daily greasing. An integrated hour meter helps operators track usage and plan servicing intervals. Multiple accessible lashing and lifting points make transport straightforward, whether loaded onto a trailer or secured in a van.
An alternative Honda GX390 engine option (8.2 kW / 11.1 hp) is also available for operators who prefer Honda power units. A document tube is included as standard for storing operating manuals and documentation on site, and custom RAL colours are available as an optional extra for fleet branding.
