What’s the difference between a slope mower and a standard ride-on mower?

A ride-on mower puts the operator on the machine on the slope, with a safe working angle typically around 20 to 25 degrees on dry ground. Remote-controlled slope mowers keep the operator on level ground with a radio controller while the tracked machine works the gradient. The tracked undercarriage provides far better grip on wet and uneven terrain than tyred machines, and the working angle extends to 61 degrees, covering embankments and bank faces that conventional ride-on mowers can’t safely operate on.

Are tracked slope mowers better than wheeled machines for steep banks?

Yes. Wheeled machines rely on tyre contact at four points, which holds on dry firm ground but degrades quickly on wet grass, soft turf, and steep cambers. Tracked machines spread weight across the full track length, giving consistent grip in the conditions most common on Scottish embankments and reservoir banks.

What’s the difference between flail and rotary cutting heads for slope work?

Flail heads use swinging tips that cut and mulch without throwing debris aggressively, and they handle ground contact variation better than a fixed rotary blade on ground where the surface isn’t consistent.
